Swedish Relaxation Massage
Description: This is the massage people most often think of when they think of going to a spa. Oils, heat applications and slow, gentle massaging of the face, limbs, neck and back are performed to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system’s relaxation response, resulting in decreased in muscle tension and blood pressure. This stimulates the circulatory system (including the lymphatic system) and facilitates the removal of metabolic waste (sometimes erroneously referred to as “toxins”) from muscle tissue cells. Parasympathetic nervous system activation also boosts immune system response, supporting our body’s natural ability to heal. Last, but not least, Relaxation Massage decreases pain levels by releasing endorphins (our body’s painkillers) and lowering cortisol levels. Recommended pressure for relaxation massage is mild to moderate in order to maximize the body’s relaxation response. Please specify your preference!
